The Council Meeting is about a small town "council" and the constant sniping and in-fighting between pompous and egotistical Council Chairman Elmer Flood and the other council members. Councilman Jim Roy Rogers takes no guff from "His Excellency" and will keep the audience laughing in this farcical but maybe all to true version of a small town council meeting.
Important and not so important issues are discussed, argued and voted on, never unanimously, as the members jockey for power and position. Elmer finally meets his match in the form of the newest council member Narcissa Turnipseed who seems to know everything and, as it turns out, is an expert Grant Writer. Maybe now we can replace those old Edsel Police Cars.
Elmer never does get a positive vote on his favorite issue, reserved parking spots for the Council Chairman. But finally, after years of bickering the Council has an unanimous vote ( I think Harry Truman was President when they had their last unanimous vote). What is it? Intermission. So what great decisions are rendered by this intrepid crew? You will have to attend the next meeting to find out. We will reserve a seat for you.
The play requires one simple set and a cast of three men and four women.
